General guidelines for in-person or Zoom lessons.

Standard lessons, or “coaching sessions,” are scheduled for approximately 75 minutes with some “breathing room” to allow wrapping up a particular idea or concept, or when it’s clear the task for the day is completed. Standard lessons will be no less than 60 minutes, nor more than 80 minutes.

Longer sessions of 2 hours are available at an adjusted rate.

Shorter “single concept” sessions of 30 minutes are available at an adjusted rate. These weekly sessions are prescheduled monthly or on a discounted 90-day prepaid semester basis.

As 30-minute sessions are frequently scheduled back-to-back they offer less flexibility for 'breathing room.' Please plan to complete all business—such as arrival, gathering materials, payments, and scheduling—within that timeframe.

Single Standard Session, $220
(4) Standard Sessions, prepaid, $800 ($200 ea.)
Single 2-hour session, $275
(4) 2-hour sessions, prepaid, $990 (10% disc.)
(4) 30 min. sessions, prepaid, $480 ($120 ea.)
90-day semester (12 lessons), $1,320 ($110 ea.)

Lessons outside my studio are rare and most always involve a travel surcharge on a case-by-case basis.

POLICIES AND PARTICULARS

Students will arrive on time for lessons. (Duh!) Early arrivals may enjoy a walk around the peaceful neighborhood or relax in a comfortable waiting area or, weather permitting, on the adjacent outdoor deck. Late arrivals may or may not be afforded a “late start” grace interval depending on scheduling and at the discretion of the instructor.

Students will be appropriately dressed and groomed upon arrival. There is a guest bathroom and sink adjacent to the studio area if needed to freshen up. Hand washing before all lessons is a must.

Be advised, my studio entrance has a short staircase. This is not a public space and, unfortunately, there is no wheelchair access.

PAYMENTS

Lessons are paid in advance and may be made via CASH, VENMO, or CHECK (least preferable). Receipts for cash payments are standard.

CANCELLATIONS and MAKEUPS

I have a 48-hour cancellation policy. Unplanned missed lessons within that window are NON-REFUNDABLE, regardless of the circumstances. Previously scheduled absences may be rescheduled in advance on periodic “makeup” days, or as my calendar permits. No-shows based on “I forgot,” or “the dog ate my homework,” etc., are not eligible for rescheduling.

Note: I’m not heartless, and sometimes life just happens. Communication is important when unforeseen events interfere, and we can likely work something out.

STUDIO LOCATION

Regular sessions take place at my home studio near Lake Merced in San Francisco, or online via Zoom. Studio address will be provided upon scheduling of first lesson. (Private parking is available, and there is a MUNI stop right out front.)

ZOOM

For Zoom lessons the client should have a well lit space, audio and video equipment sufficient to capture the exchange of information, and a high-speed internet connection. (Details can be covered during initial interview.)
